“We have been using Kelpies as the main players in our livestock handling operation for over a decade now and have not found a breed that can compete with the Kelpie for all round ability.

The special attributes of the Working Kelpie are that they have the ability to travel or escort their livestock in a fashion that does not upset them.  They have strength and a massive amount of “heart and desire”.  One of the things that we like best about the Working Kelpie is their ability to work and think for themselves.  This means that you can place them on a large mob to mind the livestock or you can set them going with a mob while you muster other areas and they are happy to do this.  In the breed itself there are many different styles and over the years Evonne and I have been selecting for the types that suit our work, conditions and temperament.”
