Fence Building

7 strand electric fence

7 strand electric fence

Last year saw us doing a lot of fencing here at Red Ridge.  From an existing system of mesh paddocks (Waratah Longlife Dog mesh), we have extended with another 7 paddocks and another 220 acres of area for the goats.  I decided to stay with mesh for all the paddocks near the house and for kidding paddocks.   The majority of the new fencing is 7 strand electric, with alternate hot wires and the bottom wire 2″ of the ground.  So far the electric is working very well, goats are in, dogs and dingoes are out.  We have a high number of dingoes and wild dogs in the area but so far, fingers crossed we have not lost an animal.  Well I have another two paddocks to complete when the weather cools down a bit and of course I’ve left the worst till last!
